We are still working around various builders, plumbers and electricians here at dw, all getting in the way of each other!. Our office has taken on a new appearance since the new design studio floor was put in place last week. You can see some of our team accessing the space just a few minutes after the floor went over the steel support structure.
The aim for the design studio is to have two working areas, the image shows what will be typical desks with fixed work horse IT stations then in the front of the building linked by a staircase will be a more informal area which will host brainstorming sessions and first stage concept generation. This area will also house our materials and samples library for quick reference during research and brainstorming sessions.
The main question still remains unanswered, will there be space for our table football?
At designworks we are breaking down barriers today. After plenty of banging, sawing, drilling and dust the big black wall of doom holding back the sunlight has been removed. The next step is for everyone to pick up their desks and relocate where ever space allows. The new studio flooring will be erected over a two day period after which we pick up our desks again for the final land grab in the new design studio area. Digital and traditional sculptors will also be making an advance towards the front of the building as they continue build their own empire.
I have just had an email from the NSPCC team and this is an extract from it:
‘I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for your London – Paris Cycle ride. As it stands you have all helped to raise over £45,000 and this total is still rising!
This money you have raised will make it possible to answer around 12,000 calls to ChildLine or pay for 450 in depth therapy sessions with a vulnerable family. On behalf of all the children and vulnerable families we work with – thank you.’
As you can see a fantastic fund raisng effort. Thank you to all my/our sponsors!
Chris
We now have two, two metre deep holes in what was the reception and garage to allow for the removal of an irritating pillar which was smack bang in the middle of the new open plan reception area.
We are trying to avoid meetings here at DW for obvious reasons, please bear with us whilst Peter’s vision is realised.
2 days to go!!!
78 miles on Sunday. Brighton return via Ditchling Beacon and Devils Dyke. Good solid ride with a small stop at the ‘Black Horse’ for a swift pint!
Chris
3 weeks to go and looking good. A couple of long rides coming up to help tune the ischial tuberosities!!
A big thanks again to those who have sponsored. If you haven’t, there is still time!
