Clarks Originals have, for the first time, entered into the Chinese department store market with the unveiling of a newly designed shop in shop retail environment. Based on our previously successful working relationship designworks were chosen to develop the retail space from concept through to final unit production drawing.


Key to the successful design was understanding the unique Clarks Originals product and brand values and communicating them to a foreign market. Throughout the design process we continually cross referenced the core product offering so the final units convey the same premium feel as the footwear.


The main challenge of the brief was to create an individual store experience with a range of units that could ultimately be placed in an infinite number of ways within a department store. Key to the successful designs was the integration of premium leather hides within the unity, subtle British iconography alongside the core originals imagery.
