Dev-Audio Microcone is an intelligent microphone device for use in group conversations. The Microcone, a small USB peripheral, uses a microphone array to pinpoint participants in a group discussion, separate the different voices and enhance them over background noise. The result is greater voice clarity with less background noise.
Designworks Brisbane studio provided the industrial design for the Dev-Audio Microcone enclosure including the following services:
- Initial Sketch Concepts - exploring the exterior form of the unit over the electronic requirements
- Concept refinement - computer generated sketches exploring colour, materials and finishes.
- CAD design - 3D CAD model was developed.
- Prototyping - mockups units were produced for user testing.
- Engineering Design - 3D CAD model was refined for production.
- Branding - logos for the Dev-Audio company and Microcone product brand.
- Packaging Design - integrated packaging solution for the product was created to compliment the product design.
Dev-Audio has been selected as one of five companies to receive support from the inaugural Telstra External Research and Development Program.
