






designworks was involved in the re-design of the classic boardgame mousetrap. designworks designed the new version of the game from concept sketches, test rigs, finalised models, sculpted traps right through to product instructions.
Brainstorming and concept sketches were created first to assess how the game could be improved. Key suggestions that were carried forward were more traps, easy and quick set-up, more positions to be caught by the trap, more moving parts, improved play patterns and a guarantee that traps would work.
designworks designed the new game with a central toilet feature that releases a ballbearing once flushed in a random direction. This can then set off one of 3 traps with a total of 5 spaces that you can be caught by a trap. The falling cage trap was included as it was such an iconic part of the original mousetrap game.
designworks also created and sculpted a new mouse mover and cheese tokens to collect in gameplay.
